Common problems
Start with what you're seeing.
Not sure which service you need? Each guide explains what a problem can mean, how grout injection may help and where its limits are.
01-04 / Common problems
- 01Cracked wallsWhere ground movement is contributing to cracking, grout injection may help address it.
- 02Sinking or settling groundSettlement beneath foundations, or ground that's sinking, can often be stabilised with grout.
- 03Leaning or failing retaining wallsGrout injection can provide additional backing and support to existing retaining walls.
- 04Voids & sinkholesUnderground voids and sinkholes can be filled with grout and the surrounding ground treated.
Before you decide
Worth knowing.
- 01
It stabilises, it doesn't lift
Our grout injection work focuses on stabilising the ground and providing additional support. It does not return a structure to its original position.
- 02
Find the cause
Long-term performance depends on the cause of the original problem, so issues such as leaking pipes or poor drainage may need to be addressed as well.
- 03
Best suited to sandy soils
Grout injection generally works best in sandy, granular soils. Clay, silt and other low-permeability materials can restrict its spread, so suitability is considered for each site.
- 04
When an engineer is needed
Some projects require an engineer to assess the problem and specify the treatment, particularly where a building is moving, a retaining wall is failing, or excavation is planned beside an existing structure.
