Deep excavation with a stabilised face

Overview

How it works.

Micro-fine grout is injected into the ground around the planned works. In suitable soils, it spreads between the soil particles and hardens, creating a stronger, more stable mass around the excavation or construction area.

From tight residential sites to large commercial excavations, we carry out soil stabilisation on residential, commercial and civil projects across Perth.

Used for

  • Supporting the ground around excavations
  • Improving ground stability for construction works
  • Excavations close to existing buildings and boundaries

Good to know

Before you start.

  • 01

    Best suited to sandy soils

Grout injection generally works best in sandy, granular soils that allow the grout to flow between the particles. Clay, silt and other low-permeability materials can restrict its spread, so suitability is considered for each site.

  • 02

    Allow time for curing

The grout needs time to cure before certain follow-on works, such as excavation or additional loading. How long the work takes depends on the size and depth of the treatment area, access, ground conditions and the amount of grout required.

  • 03

    Excavating beside a structure

Where excavation is planned beside an existing structure, an engineer may need to assess the site and specify the treatment. Our site observations do not replace an engineering assessment.
