Temporary retaining
Temporary ground support for excavation works while permanent retaining structures are constructed.

Overview
How it works.
During excavation works, the ground around the excavation needs support until the permanent retaining structures are in place. We provide temporary ground support for that stage of the works.
We work with homeowners, builders and contractors on residential, commercial and civil projects, and plan the support around the excavation and the conditions on site.
Used for
- Supporting excavations before permanent retaining is built
- Excavations beside existing buildings and boundaries
Good to know
Before you start.
- 01
Excavating beside a structure
Where excavation is planned beside an existing structure, an engineer may need to assess the site and specify the treatment. Our site observations do not replace an engineering assessment.
- 02
Plan it early
We lay out a clear timeline from start to finish. Getting in touch early, with plans and any engineering reports, makes it easier to fit the works into your program.
- 03
Best suited to sandy soils
Grout injection generally works best in sandy, granular soils that allow the grout to flow between the particles. Clay, silt and other low-permeability materials can restrict its spread, so suitability is considered for each site.
- 04
Allow time for curing
Where grout is used, it needs time to cure before certain follow-on works, such as excavation or additional loading.
